Chloe Cherry changes her mind about monogamy.
While appearing on Tuesday’s episode of Emily Ratajkowski’s podcast High Low with EmRatathem Euphoria star, 25, said she was done having casual sex with men and these days she was ready to enter a monogamous relationship.
“I’ve never been monogamous before and I want to try that,” the porn star-turned-actress revealed. “Isn’t it funny?”
Although she’s been in porn for many years, Cherry confirmed that she’s done with that part of her career, telling Ratajkowski that she hopes to “star in as many” Hollywood films as possible. Still, getting into the dating pool after being in the adult film industry for so long isn’t easy.
“It’s the last thing I ever tried, a monogamous relationship,” she explained. “I want to see how it feels. But it’s a lot. It’s hard for me. It’s really crazy to come out of a career in sex because you’re so used to having casual sex and then , when you’re someone like me, who’s afraid to date people, your life gets really confusing.”
Cherry explained that although she was “obsessed with sex” in her late teens, now that she’s older the thought of being ghosted by men after having casual sex with them terrifies her. .
“That would just be too f*** with my brain,” she said. “I can’t take it. I’d rather keep having sex with the same person I’ve been in a relationship with for a long time than try to find someone new. [who] can never talk to me again.”
Although she admits that her years in the porn industry may have led her to seek monogamy and stability later in life, Cherry still looks back on those days with no regrets.
“I’m so glad I made tons of money at 18 instead of just giving up as a waitress,” she said. “I was confident enough to do it instead of wasting my life being hit on by a creepy 40-year-old man. [male boss].”
Now a successful actress who dreams of forging new paths, Cherry is keen to tell her own story in her own words – hoping to inspire other women who dream of entering the porn industry.
“I want to write a memoir about my porn career,” she told Ratajkowski. “I really want to share what it’s like to be [in the industry]. One of my big goals is that future 18-year-old girls get into porn, that their family and friends don’t react like mine. Because the way my family and friends reacted was extremely traumatic.”
Cherry’s take on monogamous relationships is a new shift from the past few months.
In an April interview on Bachelor Nick Viall’s podcast, The Viall filesCherry had talked about her preference for dating multiple people at the same time.
“Right now, I just like seeing a bunch of different people [at the same time]”, she said. “I think it’s the best way to date someone. I think the best way for me to be a good partner is to have other partners – not that they are necessarily my the partners, just other people in my life. Unless someone tells me they just want to be with me, I won’t.”
Although she admitted to not knowing exactly what she wanted in a committed relationship, she shared at the time that “dating multiple people has been the best thing for me to figure out what I want and what I don’t want another person”.
