He adds,

“I know what I’m going to do for the next six or seven years. The thing is, it’s going to be fine. I’m sure we’ll be having a chat with the best at Disney soon about the game plan ahead for Avatar 3, which is already in the box – we’ve already captured and photographed the entire film, so we’re in extended post-production doing all that CG magic. So what Avatar 4 and 5 are both written. We even have some of 4 in the box. We started a franchise at this point. We’ve started a saga that can now span multiple films.”

Cameron also clarified that the rumors that the second film was to earn at least $2 billion were just a rumour: “To clarify, I never gave it a number. I said it was to be among the highest-grossing movies in history and someone else applied that number and it got picked up. The number is actually lower. In another recent interview with a French newspaper 20 minutesthem IndieWire reported that Cameron would introduce a new fire-centric Na’vi clan in Avatar 3. “The fire will be represented by the ‘people of ashes.’ I want to show the Na’vi from another angle because so far I’ve only shown their good sides, in the early films there are very negative human examples and very positive Na’vi examples. Avatar 3, we will do the opposite. We will also explore new worlds, while continuing the story of the main characters. I can say that the last parts will be the best. The others were an introduction, a way to set the table before serving the meal.”
