It’s going to take more than an olive branch to fix this.
Prince Harry’s sister-in-law Kate Middleton is said to be ‘appalled’ by the endless revelations the Duke of Sussex has detailed in his new memoir, ‘Spare’.
The 38-year-old has left no stone unturned as he lifts the lid on private conversations he’s had with just about every member of the royal family, including Princess Kate.
“Kate thinks Harry’s actions are atrocious,” a source told Us Weekly of the Princess of Wales’ reaction to the explosive book.
“She is appalled at him for dragging her name through the dirt and finds it hard to forgive.”
Kensington Palace declined to comment.
Among the myriad eye-catching pearl moments in the memoir, Harry divulges a fair amount of Kate’s relationship with his wife, Meghan Markle.
Harry gave his side of the infamous dress fallout between Meghan and Kate, which reportedly left the ‘Suits’ star sobbing on the floor.
The Duke has revealed text messages sent between his wife and William’s wife amid a disagreement over whether to wear a bridesmaid dress for Princess Charlotte.
Harry also recalled a time when Kate reluctantly lent Meghan her lip gloss and was “baffled” by her request to borrow it. The 38-year-old said the Princess of Wales “winked” when Meghan squeezed the lip gloss onto her finger and applied it to her lips.
Elsewhere, the exiled royal admitted to having high hopes that William and Kate would get along with who he ends up with.
“I thought the four of us were going to, you know, get closer to William and I, we could go out and work together, which I did a lot as a third wheel for them, which was sometimes fun but also I guess, a bit embarrassing at times too,” he wrote.
“I don’t think they expected me to enter – or become – a relationship with someone like Meghan, who has had, you know, a very successful career.”
Harry said the stereotypes caused “a bit of a barrier” when Meghan met the couple.
“There were a lot of stereotypes happening, which I was also guilty of at first,” he writes.
When asked to clarify, Harry adds of Meghan: “Well, American actress, divorced, biracial, there are all sorts of parts to it and what it can mean if you are, like a lot of members from my family, if you read the press, the British tabloids, while living life, then there’s a tendency where you might end up living in a tabloid bubble than the actual reality.
Elsewhere in the memoir, Harry claimed William and Kate “screamed with laughter” when he told them he was considering wearing a Nazi costume to a party in 2005.
Harry was 20 when the Sun newspaper ran a front-page photo of him dressed as a Nazi soldier with a red armband emblazoned with a large swastika.
“I phoned Willy and Kate, asked what they thought. Nazi uniform, they said,” Harry wrote, adding that when he got home and tried it on for them, “ They both screamed. Worse than Willy’s leotard outfit! Much more ridiculous! Which, again, was the point.
